Inficio is the main setting where the story takes place. A once habitable place, it has been ravaged by generations of humanity to the point where life now struggles to sustain itself. Society has pushed the planet's resources past the point of no return, as each attempted solution only further dooms civilization.
When Inficio became connected to Atra, things went from bad to worse. As dark shadows from the other world blocked the sunlight, all plants and animals suffered mass extinctions, leaving only the humans to continue to struggle for what little scraps of life remain on the hopeless planet.
In an attempt to prevent complete societal collapse, the Government fights to maintain an iron grip over its people through propaganda and manipulation. The intuitions of Inficio are tightly controlled, including education, healthcare, the media, and even the power grid down to every last lightbulb.
On Inficio it is impossible to break the rules and defy the government, yet against all odds, a group of the most doomed people on the planet have done just that. They alone know the truth.
Atra is the shadow realm of the Eruo, creatures that live by a completely different set of rules than those on Inficio. They are tortured souls lost in the darkness of their own immortality, entertained only by the chaos they create. Life does not truly exist on Atra, for the eternal Eruo have no need for the basic necessities the humans fight so hard to obtain. The Eruo and the humans both long for what the other has, as the purpose of mortality counters the pain of being actually alive.
Throughout time and long-forgotten history, Atra has watched over the collapse of many worlds, though whether it is the cause or simply the harbinger of the end remains unknown. Now Atra has been connected to Inficio as the pattern repeats itself once again.
